Mach1 Computing rises like a phoenix from the ashes of two companies with great potential to help customers in HPC. Originally MSC Software had an HPC division helping customers perform their simulations but fell victim to todays all too common management slavery to quarterly results and measurable fiscal performance. Paracel took over what was left of this division for a short time, and as a subdivision of Applied Biosystems / Celera corporation but HPC was neither a core business nor a core competency at either MSC or Celera. Soon the division was shut down and the people were forced to look for other employment, the customers they once had helped left to fend for themselves.
So, two people whose heritage spans both of these companies have started Mach1 with the intention to offer all the value and reliability these two companies offered without the complexity and overhead each of them injected into the process.
Most of the current high performance computing landscape is dominated by commodity hardware based clusters of Intel and AMD based systems. To a large extent, the difference between any one hardware brand or another is in peripheral technology which has little bearing on the core value these architectures bring to their owners. Mach1 sees that the primary value a company can provide is at the design, layout, and technology choice as the system design shakes out as well as after the solution is delivered to provide complete support for the solution as a whole.
